2023 REU
Program Dates: Tuesday, May 30 – Friday, August 4, 2023
Application Deadline: Friday, February 3, 2023
Students will be trained in research methods for understanding the challenges to the sustainability of urban systems. Students will work on independent projects under the supervision of a faculty mentor. Project areas are interdisciplinary and encompass the fields of ecology, civil and environmental engineering, and geological sciences. Students will participate in a weekly research seminar series, portfolio creation, and professional development activities. The program will conclude with a research poster session. We especially invite applications from members of traditionally underserved groups. All rising juniors and seniors are welcome to apply.
Each student will be part of a research project led by a faculty mentor, but all will come together regularly for cross-cohort seminars to learn from the projects of research colleagues.
Each research project is designed to be completed during the summer, but all research leads to larger questions, and students will be encouraged to continue their research beyond the summer as their schedule allows.
