It's time once again for the Spring semester UT Waller Creek Cleanup. Join
us on the morning of Saturday, April 8, 2006 to help clean up our part of this
campus oasis.
Did you know that there is natural oasis right here on campus? Waller Creek is an urban watershed that runs from North Austin through the city and campus into Town Lake. Even though it's in the middle of the city, the creek is home to a great diversity of wildlife. From the Great Blue Heron to the Roseate Skimmer Dragonfly, many types of animals rely on the creek habitat for survival.
But being an urban watershed means that Waller Creek suffers many pollution problems too. Trash from the streets washes down storm drains and into the creek. Sometimes people even dump large items into the creek so they don't have to pay for disposal. This pollution can really affect the wildlife, water quality, and beauty of Waller Creek.
What can you do? Volunteer for the next UT Waller Creek Cleanup, Sat.,
April 8th, from 9am - 11am! Register at http://www.wallercreek.org
