The 2005 Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) National Conference will be held on the UT Austin campus from October 5-9, 2005. Over a hundred speakers will present talks, sessions, and workshops on issues of sustainability in relation to the four conference tracks of environment, business, technology, and education. Confirmed keynote speakers include Hunter Lovins, Sergio Palleroni, Walter Weber, Jr., and Akhtar Badshah.

Themes for the conference include: water quality/ supply . green building . sustainable materials . youth action . nanotechnology . education . digital divide . global ethics . renewable energy . microfinance . food security . social entrepreneurship

A tentative program has been uploaded at: http://www.geocities.com/sameerxkamal/ESWConfProgram.xls . (Note that this is not the finalized program and that there may be several changes in days to come. The complete program will be uploaded onto the conference website as soon as it is finalized.)

Q: Where will the conference be held?

The conference will be held at different parts of the UT Austin campus, including the Union Ballroom, Business School, LBJ School & the Thompson Conference Center.

Q: Do UT Austin students also have to register online?

Yes, if you want to register before August 15th and take advantage of the early registration rates, you must register online.

Q: Should I register for the conference even if I plan to volunteer at the conference?

Yes, please go ahead and register even if you plan to volunteer. We will re-imburse conference volunteers at a later date.
