Summary of Talk
The HP-WWF Climate Change Roadshow is an attempt to bring individuals from across the country (and in this case Austin) into the climate change debate.  John Matthews, Climate Change Adaptation Specialist, from WWF will discuss the work WWF is doing around the world with a strong focus on the freshwater adaptation projects WWF is running. John Frey, Manager of Corporate Environmental Strategy at Hewlett Packard (HP), will discuss what HP is doing to respond to climate change, their partnership with WWF, and what being a corporate global citizen means to them.

Additionally, there will be a ton of time for discussion with the audience. Want to find out how to get involved with WWF or HP and work on climate change issues? If so, this is the time and place. Interested in the natural sciences, sustainability, corporate social responsibility, or climate change in general? This is where to go and get the scoop!

There is no need to register, just show up
! Also, the first 30 individuals to show up will get free “Hotter Than I Should Be” T-shirts!

Speakers
John Matthews: Climate Adaptation Specialist (Freshwater), World Wildlife Fund
After growing up in a small town in east Texas, John Matthews attended the University of Chicago, graduating with a degree in cultural anthropology in 1990. For the next twelve years, he worked in the publishing industry for a variety of companies, primarily as an editor and writer. Having seen places he knew well as a child become rapidly degraded, John decided to leave publishing and spent two years taking undergraduate biology courses, then enrolling in the ecology, evolution, and behavior PhD program at the University of Texas in 2002. Graduating in 2007, his dissertation work focused on how aquatic insects and migratory species would be impacted by climate change. During graduate school, John consulted and collaborated with a variety of researchers, agencies, NGOs, and landowners on conservation and climate change issues. John's work with WWF focuses on developing and implementing strategies for global freshwater ecosystems to adapt and build resilience to the current period of climate shifts.

John Frey: Manager, Corporate Environmental Strategy, Hewlett Packard (HP)
Mr. Frey leads HP's Corporate Environmental Strategies (CES) organization. In this role, he is responsible for leading HP's environmental efforts to deliver leading products, services and operations that meet or exceed both legal requirements and the expectations of customers and stakeholders; driving standardized environmental practices across all HP businesses; and leading the company-wide Environmental Strategies Council. Mr. Frey also serves as HP's external voice on environmental topics with analysts, media, customers and other stakeholders. Since joining HP/Compaq in 1996, he has managed Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) programs globally and was the Director of Global Health and Safety prior to assuming leadership of the CES organization. Prior to joining Compaq, Mr. Frey managed similar functions for ARCO, Boeing, and NASA.
