The CD-ROM is driven by HTML, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat software. Enclosed in the CD-ROM package is a PowerPoint presentation with images and text incorporated together. PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat or an Imaging software can be used to view the presentation. If you do not have PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat, sofware is provided on the CD-ROM or can be download online. When the CD-ROM is loaded using a computer the CD Menu will automatically run. To navigate to the CD-ROM contents for the PowerPoint presentation, images, lecture info, teacher resources or installation files you will use the CD Menu, which will open a folder with the appropriate files. Please single click the menu items or you will open two windows. Note: Older volumes will not auto start and will not have a nagivation menu on the CD-ROM. In that case, open "My Computer", and click on your CD drive to access the contents of the CD-ROM. Folders with the appropriate name will be labeled for you to access them.
How to use this CD-ROM
MacOS users:
Insert CD into drive. After CD loads on desktop, double click on
the CD-ROM icon. Double click on the “Start.html”. The CD Menu will appear giving you access to all CD contents. For MAC presentation click “Presentation” on the menu. A folder will appear, then double click on the “MAC” directory, and then double click on the file ending in ".ppt". If you do not have PowerPoint on your computer, double click on the file ending in ".pdf".
Note: Older volumes will not auto start and will not have a nagivation menu on the CD-ROM. In that case, open the folders with the appropriate name to access the content.
WindowsOS users:
Insert CD into drive and the CD Menu will automatically start. Use the CD Menu to access all CD contents. For PC presentation click “Presentation” on the menu. A folder will appear, then double click on the “PC” directory, and then double click on the file ending in ".ppt". If you do not have PowerPoint on your computer, double click on the file ending in ".pdf" or see “WindowsOS Only” section below.

WindowsOS Only: PowerPoint Viewer for Windows: For PC presentation click “Presentation” on the CD Menu. A folder will appear, then double click on the “PC” directory and in the directory, double click on the “PPT_Viewer – PCOnly”. PPT Viewer is within this folder. Locate and double click on the application called PPVIEW32.exe. In the next window double click on the PowerPoint presentation. After the slide show launches, clicking on the space bar on the keyboard moves you through the slide show.
Slide notes: Text associated with each image called “Slide Notes.pdf” is found in the “Slide Notes” directory can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat. These pdf files may also be printed.
To view PRESENTATION IMAGES without PowerPoint software: For images click “Photos/Images” on the CD Menu. A folder will appear, then double click on the “Images” directory, and then double click on the “Slide Images” directory. These images have been saved in JPEG or GIF format and can be opened in Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, some other digital application or by using a web browser like Netscape.
If using Adobe Photoshop or CorelDraw, after launching the application go to the File Menu Window and open. Move through the directories on the CD until you get to the “Slide Images” directory. Open a file by double clicking on it. If using Netscape on a MacOS, under the FILE window, go to OPEN PAGE in Navigator. Go to Desktop and then go to the “Slide Images” Directory on the CD and open a file by double clicking on it.
If using Netscape on a WindowsOS, under the FILE menu window, go to "Open Page" and click on "Choose file". At this point go to the “Slide Images” directory on the CD. You will see a window of directories. If the window is empty - choose "All Files" from the files of type drop down window. Double click on a file.
All of the same information is available in the PowerPoint and non- PowerPoint files described above. The PowerPoint format, however, combines the figures and text on the same screen and provides a ready-to-go slide show of these images.
System Requirements: For a MS Windows or Mac operating system A minimum of 20 Mb (more is recommended) allocated to the application to run on a MacOS system is suggested.
