2008 Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholarship Nominations

If you think you may be a good candidate for a Udall Scholarship please discuss this opportunity with your faculty advisor, mentor or research supervisor.

The Morris K. Udall Foundation Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Program has announced its 2008 scholarship program.

The Foundation will award eighty scholarships of up to $5,000 each to full-time Sophomores & Juniors (see Udall definition) with a GPA of "B" or better who are "... committed to a career related to the environment, OR committed to a career in tribal public policy OR Native American health care (only Native Americans and Alaska Natives are eligible to apply in tribal public policy or Native American health care)." Scholarship recipients must enroll full-time for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The University of Texas at Austin has been invited to nominate a total of six students in the above categories, and the Vice President for Research invites nominations of qualified students who meet the Udall criteria and have demonstrated excellence in these fields. Complete program information is available at http://www.udall.gov/udall.asp?link=200.

To make a nomination, all of the following materials must be submitted to this office no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008:

  1. A letter of nomination from a UT faculty or staff member familiar with the student's eligibility and suitability for a Udall scholarship

Students are not allowed to submit their applications directly to the Udall Foundation. An internal review will determine which six nominees will represent The University of Texas to the Udall Foundation, and this office will coordinate their final applications by the March 4, 2008, deadline.
