Through its outreach programs and interdisciplinary partnerships, ESI has developed a wide variety of teacher resources on environmental science topics:
-
Educational CD-Rom's: In connection with its
Hot Science - Cool Talks series, ESI produces CD-Rom's that contain a video of the lecture, learning modules, lesson plans aligned with TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), along with annotated lecture slides designed to help teachers bring the lecture topic directly into their classrooms.
-
Archived Lectures: A complete archive of the 60+ previous
Hot Science - Cool Talks lectures, along with annotated versions of lecture slides
-
Educational Websites: The Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas has developed several websites that are useful to geography, environmental, aquatic, and earth science teachers:
- Water Exploration: This Web-based education program was developed by the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics, Texas teachers, and the Texas Water Development Board. Water Exploration uses a project-based learning approach with learning activities and resources packaged into three modules, or Legacy Cycles, in a way that makes use of the Internet and computer technology to promote inquiry learning.
- TXESS Revolution: This website contains a large collection of teaching activities, many of which were developed by GK-12 fellows and tested by teachers in Texas to provide high quality professional development and resources to minority and minority-serving science teachers.
- EarthLabs: Comprised two separate websites, EarthLabs has one module designed for educators and policy makers, and one for students. The activities in each EarthLabs module represent a sequence for an integrated instructional unit. Each unit supplies a variety of lab experiences that can be integrated with learning from lectures, demonstrations, and readings.
- GO3 Foundation Global Ozone Project Curriculum website: Download Free Air Pollution Teaching Curriculum! Includes information covering ground-level ozone, the "ozone hole", greenhouse gases and climate change, black carbon and energy and the environment.
