sorry for typing that blank one...i reallly didnt mean to! :/ anywayss....is the hotel or whatever that your staying in like a hotel here in america? or is it smaller, and decorated weird. :) hope your having a good time!
( submitted 1/15/08 by bridget weiss, pcms )Ms. Steele's Response: Thats a good question. I think there are hotels here in Lima, Peru that are very much like those in America with all the conveniences, but I dont usually stay at those because they are too expensive. The one I am staying at here is shaped like a big house. It is in a residential area. Although there are also many hostels available, I always stay at hotels with rooms with private bathrooms. There are several rooms that are all different. They try to fill every space they have, so they all have different shapes. Most of these little hotels have small central patios that are open to the outdoors, too. For the most part, it is cozy, and has all the conveniences I need, like Coca-cola and the Internet!
when you get to the amazon..let me know if is big and as cool as you see in all the pictures! and if its dark or sunlight, and if there are really tonss of plants around you! be careful, and try no to get attacked my wild animalss!!!!! jk hope you have good luck finding you psigura! :)
( submitted 1/15/08 by bridget weiss, pcms )Ms. Steele's Response: It is!! Trees, trees, everywhere!! I haven?t seen much in the way of animals yet because the places I?ve searched for Psiguria are so populated with humans. Hopefully I will get a chance to get away and see animals!
DID YOU FIND THE FLOWER/PLANT/FRUIT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR? IT WOULD BE SO NETO IF YOU COULD BRING IT BACK FOR US
( submitted 1/15/08 by NICK TYSON, PARK QUEST )Ms. Steele's Response: I found a few in Bolivia (read more in the journal entries). It is permitted by the U.S. to bring in dead and dried plants for herbarium specimens, but sometimes the border guards in customs dont realize that. It is not permitted to bring live plants into the U.S., and sometimes the customs officials dont realize that my plants are dead and dried. So, I dont risk trying to bring them into the country in my suitcase. I am always afraid that they will confiscate them. So, I leave one collection of each individual in the herbarium of the country where I found it, and then the herbarium curator sends the others to me at The University of Texas through the mail.

( submitted 1/15/08 by shelly milvo, parkcrest )Ms. Steele's Response: I was standing near the edge, but not too close to fall :).
