Wednesday, June 10
- Travel to Port Aransas. Dinner on your own.
- Orientation 7-8:30 pm UTMSI Visitors Center Auditorium
- Overview of Gulf of Mexico: Creating a sense of place. Dr. Rick Tinnin
- Review plans for field work over the next three days
Thursday, June 11
- 6:30 am breakfast, pick up box lunches
- 7 am Field Trip: Fennessey Ranch-Mission River watershed & Riparian Forest
- 2 pm return to campus, model revisions and discussion
- 6 pm dinner
- 7 pm overview of Mission-Aransas NERR and tomorrow's field trip
Friday, June 12
- 7 am breakfast, pick up box lunches
- 8 am depart UTMSI marina to survey Aransas and Copano Bays
- 2 pm arrive back on campus, work on water sample data
- 6 pm dinner
- 7 pm incorporate sample data into models, work on lesson plans
Saturday, June 13
- 7 am breakfast
- 8 am depart on RV KATY to sample Redfish Bay and ship channel
- 12 pm Lunch
- 1 pm work up KATY samples, model revision and discussion
- 6 pm dinner
- 7 pm work on lesson plans
Sunday, June 14
- 7 am breakfast
- 8 am teams present models and lesson plans
- 11 am check out and depart Port Aransas
What to bring with you to Port Aransas:
You need to come fully prepared to be in the field each day.
I suggest that you bring the following items with you:
- Hat
- sunscreen
- bathing suit
- long-sleeved cotton shirt
- towel
- personal toiletries
- Dive booties or tennis shoes to wear on the boat and in the field, no sandals!
- Gallon size Ziploc or collecting bags (I have some pint and quart jars for specimens)
- Camera, video camera, binoculars, extra film
- Comfortable, casual clothes for the pier lab and non-field work
- Water bottle
