Hydrogen Economy

The Hydrogen Economy

Can it be achieved? What will it cost? What are the benefits and pitfalls? Will it stop global warming? A recent set of articles in the journal Science tackles these question and many others with a timely set of articles about hydrogen energy.

Hydrogen can be used to generate power from the reaction created by combining hydrogen atoms with oxygen to create water. Energy is a byproduct of this reaction. Unlike fossil fuels this technology seems to be the ultimate clean power source, but is it really? The articles in this series investigate questions associated with whether hydrogen can help the us avoid global warming caused by the emission of carbon into the atmosphere.
