During spring 2007, the Seminar in Marine Science (MNS 191) will focus on major issues related to Coastal Watersheds Science and Land-Sea Coupling in the face of environmental change. This seminar will provide an opportunity to discuss topics such as water use, land use/land cover change, and climate change as they relate to export of water and water-borne materials from land to sea. Impacts of changing land-sea exports on marine ecosystems will also be discussed. Recent issues identified in the primary literature will be emphasized. The seminar course will also provide an opportunity to discuss potential subject matter for an advanced course in Integrated Watershed Science that is currently under development and tentatively scheduled for spring 2008.

This course will be offered over a video link so that students at the Marine Science Institute as well as Austin can participate. At least half of the class meetings will be conducted in Austin.
